How To Post To TikTok
This article explains the steps to post to TikTok directly and using the TikTok inbox. It also explains the limitations of this platform.
[Update 14 July 2023]: TikTok Direct Posting is Live!
Connecting Your TikTok account to our Tool
1. Check if you're starting a new TikTok connection with our tool.
2. You can go to Account Preferences or Workspace Preferences and add it. It will automatically grab the correct permissions.
3. If you had TikTok already connected before, you have to remove it first and then add it back. This way, it will pull in the correct permissions automatically.
4. If you already have TikTok posts scheduled for the future, removing and adding a Tiktok account will not affect your Queue.
How to Post to TikTok Directly
1. Select all the social profiles you want to send the post to.
2. Make sure to select a TikTok profile.
3. If you try to select a second TikTok profile, it will give you a warning. It can only send to one TikTok profile per post.
4. Then you can add a message.
5. Add hashtags. Your caption will automatically include the hashtags.
6. It's time to upload a video by clicking on the ‘Upload a Video' button.
7. You should see the video preview on the TikTok window. You'll see the preview as a square even though it's a vertical video. Remember that the final video will be the original aspect ratio. We don't modify your videos at all.
8. Select the correct category.
9. We don't recommend adding watermarks. TikTok doesn't like watermarks. They can ban your account if you add watermarks.
10. Select the initial settings asked on the TikTok preview window. You'll see this option if it's your first time to post to TikTok. After that, it will remember your preferences and will not ask in the future. You can always change it, and it will remember that too. It will remember the very last setting that you've set.
11. Check your message/caption on the TikTok preview window.
12. Make sure that you don't exceed the 2,200 character limit.
13. You can now publish your post directly. You can choose whether to ‘Publish Now, Add to Queue, Schedule.'
What to Do If You Want to Edit Your TikTok Post in the TikTok App to Add More Elements to Your Post
1. Once your post is ready to be published, you can switch on the ‘Hold as a draft in TikTok' in the top right corner of the TikTok preview window.
2. Then you'll see the option at the bottom ‘Email me when it's time to post.'
3. This will hold the post in your TikTok inbox.
4. In your TikTok inbox, you can quickly edit that post. You can add a sound or a sticker that links to your website. The only way to add a link in TikTok is by adding a sticker.
How to Bulk Upload Your TikTok Posts
1. Go to the Import tab.
2. Upload a csv of your TikTok videos. You can schedule these posts in the future as well.
3. Select a TikTok profile.
4. Then you'll see the TikTok Settings that you have to select from. These are the same settings that you see in the TikTok preview window in the Publish Dashboard.
5. Then you can click on the ‘Add to Queue' button.
[Previous Method of Posting to TikTok]
You can now publish videos to TikTok on our platform. The process is a bit different and there are some limitations due to API restrictions they impose on all 3rd party tools.
Here is the process to post to TikTok:
- Upload your video (see below for video restrictions)
- Select the TikTok account(s) you wish to publish to
- Write your message. You can customize the message that will be used as your TikTok caption by editing the message in the preview area on the right.
- Add hashtags using the hashtag group feature. Be sure you've loaded up the TikTok column with hashtags by editing your hashtag groups. (optional)
- Post or schedule the video as usual.
- When the scheduled time comes along, we send the video to TikTok. They will immediately notify you within the official TikTok app that the video has been uploaded and is ready to post.
- Open the email we sent you at the same time it is time to post the video. Copy the caption from the email into your phone's clipboard.
- Either click on the TikTok notification on your phone, or open the TikTok app and go to the inbox. There you will see a link to the video that Campaign Share has uploaded (that is our social sharing app)
- Paste the caption into the caption field and modify the video as desired.
- Publish
